If you're using an integrated stereo unit (i.e., TV/phono/CD
players/home entertainment, etc.), try disconnecting external signal
inputs if this sound is a ground hum, *especially* if you have cable TV.
Those unsheilded coaxial cables are notorious for smuggling in noise.
