One of the interesting facets of this is that of providing a sort of historical artifact/barometer in a rapidly shifting and multiplying genre/sub genre. One of the ongoing arguments on the ambient list is the plasticity of the term 'ambient'. It's always fun to be reminded of a time when idm, ambient and techno were not as rigid categorically.
