My phone allows MP3s as ringtones, so what I do is rip a CD (or
whatever) to a .wav file. Open in Adobe Audition. Convert to mono.
Trim to the part I want to use as a ringtone. EQ to the effective range
of the phone's speaker (in my case just start the roll off at about
400Hz). Compress it HARD. Normalise. Render to MP3. Bluetooth to
phone.
Job's a goodun.
