SENSORY EFFECT presents OSCILLATE-- tuesdays at The Baltic Room--1207 pine st. Seattle, WA 10p $3 21+ w/ residents GREG SKIDMORE and ELECTROSECT Tuesday Jan.24, 2006-- we welcome OBELUS (basskamp-SEA) is the Seattle based live electronica duo of Adam Pessl and Jason Goessl. Played through the traditional instrumentation of guitar, bass, keyboards and other assorted noise makers, Obelus takes these familiar sounds through a matrix of samplers, effects, and sequencers to recombine them into an eclectic mix of tempos, textures, and moods. These electronic collages are best described as lush ambient synthesizer and bass driven loops propelled by complex rythm progressions. The skilled use of electronic and acoustic drums, circuit-bent keyboards, MIDI guitar, and samples takes the listener on a sonic escape to the untempered regions of musical imagination, yet Adam and Jason remain live and in the moment. Tonight the guys are joining us to present seperate exclusive laptop sets. ndCv (basskamp-SEA) Andy Seaver grew up in the state of Maine, on the eastern coast of the United States. He studied music at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, and finally moved out to Seattle, Washington, to explore his West Coast intuitions. His approach is to create electronic music through the manipulation of recorded noises. Although this "musique-concrete" approach to production is certainly nothing new, Andy finds it exciting to disguise ordinary sounds through, primarily, combination filtering and pitch distortion. The low diesel drone of an idling truck can become the pulsing pad of harmony LOGIC PROBE (basskamp-SEA) Logic Probe's Dereck and Dave got their start using beat up records, yard sale keyboards, effects pedals, and Logic Probe as a groundwork for their sound. Over time their equipment has steadily evolved from samplers and keyboards to laptop computers, yet their off-beat musical vision has remained intact, never shying away from unexplored territory. Logic Probe has completed soundtrack work for several independant films, remixed songs for bandls such as Botch, Waxwing, and Obelus, as well as keeping busy playing live throughout the Northwest. Tonight Dereck and Dave join us for an exciting live set --------------------------------- Yahoo! Autos. Looking for a sweet ride? Get pricing, reviews, & more on new and used cars.
