So, I just "inherited" a MIDI controller keyboard and I want to make it speak with my laptop. Does anybody have a particular adapter that they are fond of? Any substantial difference between USB-to-MIDI and Firewire-to-MIDI? Should I dismiss MIDI as decadent and write everything by hand in Max/DSP and Supercollider? (kidding) Anyway, any suggestions would be much appreciated. Also, any recommendations on a small-scale software sampler would be great, too... cheerio, LMG Chicago,IL p.s. actually, I wasn't kidding all that much about Max/DSP and Supercollider. If I had time (ha!) I'd love to become fluent in their language of robot love. p.p.s. I know this is old news by now, but I'm *still* loving Jackson and his Computer Band. Sort of like IDM + Akufen. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
