I suggest jumping right into Max/MSP (
http://www.cycling74.com), PD
(
http://puredata.info) or SuperCollider (
http://www.audiosynth.com). All are
beginner-oriented, and provide the shortest distance between the sounds you have
in your head and realizing them on the computer. The absolute easiest approach
though is to simply do everything in Csound (
http://www.csounds.com) -- all you
have to do is launch the program and lush, engaging soundscapes practically jump
out of the speakers!
