To every single one of you who has written with extremely helpful
information, a HUGE THANK YOU.
I think my initial problem was caused by DAP (Download Accelerator
Plus) that conflicted with any attempt to download, since it was set to
dial-up and not set up for use with the network as we now run it.
Any attempt at downloading was met with an error message that read
"your request has been actively barred by the host machine" which
was most disconcerting!
Thanks again - I shall work my way through every one of your
suggestions.
