I've never gotten into DJ Spooky's music, but I've always liked
Autechre. Though I don't listen to Confield or Draft 7.30 very much.
But I do like Gantz Graf quite a lot. *shrug* ...I have a strange
feeling I'll like the new album, though I haven't heard it yet.
What I do know is that I haven't really heard any new IDM since the last
Plaid album.
Even better, man, give me some old-school Musicology or Redcell any day.
Get me soaring over some dystopian metropolis in my B12 Cloud-Car
whilst talking to my A.I. pet via my Neurojack hyperlink to the city's
VR-net and you'll have me in cyborg's heaven, you will.
Now *that* was IDM. Not that I listened to any of it until the '00s.
But leave out the Future Past/As One and the Stasis stuff, that noise
just doesn't do it for me.

Perhaps the rather obvious cartoon concrete of squarpusher, or the mediocre beats of aphex twin, or maybe you'll offer up christian fennesz as an example of well made electronic music. This is a man who makes the same album again and again and again..however lush as his stuff sounds hes still a one trick pony..just like twerk...or mr swing quantise as i like to call him.

>>untilted is not a return to old autechre, it is a work in its own right. You people who lament their continued progress should really leave out the criticism. Anyone who knows Autechre respects that each new album will be a new direction, one which may seem challenging at first but will soon evolve into the most beutiful and obvious creation.

>>For me Untilted is the most natural sounding electronic record i have heard in ages. I mean the rhythms are astounding, deep, funky, and so fucking spiritual. Shit man you haters really have no idea at all....no idea.
