Kings of the ?livetronica? movement, STS9 are equally as informed and
inspired by the early greats of jazz, blues, rock, electronica while also
influenced by contemporary, forward thinking artists. Compared to everyone
from RADIOHEAD, PINK FLOYD, TORTOISE, SAVATH+SAVALAS, TELEFON TEL AVIV,
PREFUSE 73, etc...these guys are gaining hundreds of new fans with each and
every gig they play and every record they release. One listen to their
powerful new album ARTiFACT and it makes perfect sense that HEFTY + STS9
were destined to cross paths.
STS9 have played the festival circuit (Fuji Rock/Japan, Coachella, Bonnaroo,
Red Rocks and Austin City Limits) quite a few times and are one of the
highest grossing touring acts in America...with a legion of die-hard fans to
prove it. They have shared live stages with JAMES BROWN, PERRY FARRELL,
TORTOISE, OZOMATLI, TELEFON TEL AVIV, MING + FS, THE ROOTS, BLACKALICIOUS,
PERCEPTIONISTS, etc. STS9 are used to playing to capacity crowds of 1,000 +
more, yet somehow we magically managed to convince them to play the tiny,
intimate space of Sonotheque for our IA residency. For this intimate IA
event, STS9 will play a LIVE PA featuring all five STS9 members. The LIVE
PA will consist of laptops, electronics, percussion/drums, bass and some
guitar. In addition, expect DJ sets by STS9 members HUNTER BROWN + DAVID
MURPHY. You can bet this IA event will be jam packed with music fans and
will be one hot party. Not to be missed, folks!

LA hip hop producer ELIOT LIPP returns to Chicago, still smokin? from a West
Coast Tour and gigs at Winter Music Conference where he played at M3 Summit
and parties for URB & Remix Magazines. Many of you may have picked up his
great debut album, released on PREFUSE 73?s EASTERN DEVELOPMENTS imprint in
late 2004. His tasteful, instrumental sound gives nods to DJ SHADOW, RZA,
TRIBE CALLED QUEST, HEIROGLYPHICS, RJD2, DAN THE AUTOMATOR, MADLIB,
FREESTYLE FELLOWSHIP, TORTOISE, etc and has been well received with
journalists (URB, XLR8R, Remix, etc). MCs are clamoring to get all over
LIPP?s beats, but they simply don?t require vocals. This guy is ready to
take over and he?s guaranteed to make some waves. Tonight is a special

SLICKER is John Hughes, owner of the bustling Chicago imprint HEFTY Records.
Having grown up on hip-hop's collages, indie-punk's bedroom DIY-isms and
the beat fantasias of electronic composers, SLICKER has grasped something
most producers haven't in his knitting together of something old and
something new. We All Have A Plan, SLICKER?s fourth album, is a fantastic
ride of a listen....a wonderful release. For SLICKER, the common chord on
