Anniemal struck me as too bubblegum for my tastes, but I see how people can like it. Recently I've been enjoying M.I.A. - Arular, which I (thankfully?) haven't read anything about, I just downloaded it on the strength of that "Galang" single, and it's hopping good. Gonna buy it soon. Also been loving the second Fischerspooner album, Odyssey. It's not the best thing ever, but I'm having fun with it, and the songs are tighter and more enjoyable than any of the indie-pop pap most everyone else seems to be claiming is the best thing ever these days. Guess I'm just a more of a dance music fan at heart, and prefer things closer to that. Other than that, Renku's "Persist" over at enpeg is still perking my ears up, and Tori Amos' "The Beekeeper" is an enjoyable, nostalgic respite for me from all the other sort of music I usually listen to. Not as good as her last album, but pretty close. Getting even further off the IDM track, The Devlins' latest, "Waves", is also pretty good. Back to IDM, there just hasn't been much great lately. Daft Punk's new one and the Chem Bros new one (ok, neither quite IDM, but closer than Tori and The Devlins) were both big disappointments to me. I like a couple tracks on both, but I haven't disliked anything from either of them yet, so they were pretty big let-downs. But the year's barely started, and I'm really looking forward to the new Freeform "Outside In" coming out on the 18th, and hopefully before the year's out we'll see new Autechre & Boards of Canada that won't disappoint. Also looking forward to trying out the new releases from Toytronic, n5MD and Merck when I can scrape more cash together. -Adam Piontek StaticBeats wrote:
