It (and the others you mentioned) are great ideas but until someone steps up and sells high quality lossless versions of the songs I won't be (as) interested. Mp3 is certainly fine at high enough bitrates, but come on people, we need to offer lossless versions too. That is my only gripe with iTunes Music Store in fact; that there's not an option for people such as myself to buy a lossless version of the audio. Even if it's DRM'ed. I don't care about DRM as long as it's as generous as Apple's is (can be transfered to unlimited iPods, can be burned essentially limitless, can be transfered to up to 5 PC's/Macs, can be streamed/shared across your personal LAN/network). The other main flaw in iTunes (and I e-mailed them to let them know a year or more ago) -- and presumably all the sites you mentioned -- is the lack of high quality PDFs of the artwork. As someone who values the whole "package" as it were, a small (or even large) lossy jpg of the cover does not suffice. I require the liner notes, the front cover, back cover, and anything else the artist originally intended you to see. Preferably self-contained in a high quality PDF so I can print them out (or easily browse through on my computer). Likewise, it would be nice if the art that goes on the CD itself were included so that I can make a direct CD burn of the album and print it out with my CD-printable inkjet Epson printer. In summation, I applaud all websites mentioned -- and especially like iTunes Music Store for its wide selection, speed, ease of use, etc. -- but until they offer lossless audio and PDF artwork, I will stick to buying CDs. -- Mr. Tangent [the binary police] www.mrtangent.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
