I have nothing against vinyl, they are big and nice (and yes, I own a turntable) but the above makes sense only if the music was recorded on analogue equipment in the first place. If it was recorded on hard disk or DAT then the waveform was once and for all digitized and would remain digitized (i.e. 16bit or 24bit or whatever, but not a smooth wave) also on the vinyl. Personally I don't think RDJ used a reel-to-reel recorder for the Analords, but I could be wrong...
