I probably did miss the point and I think you bring up some very good points. However, sometimes the artists themselves are the most deluded about where they get their ideas. My personal opinion (and this is really only my opinion) culled from simply listening to the music, is that Eno (and not Kraftwerk) is most central to the IDM canon, in spirit, tone, seriousness, and beauty.
