Sheesh get a grip!
Even if I were being serious, it's not like the music you love would
disappear if some new people were trying to make goth IDM. There's a
kind of gothicism in some anime & cyberpunk, maybe a goth IDM could feed
off of that. China Mieville occurs to me here...
Actually being serious, didn't "electroclash" try to make some quick
bucks off making IDM sexy? And wasn't the result just a short-lived
'80s new-wave revival? Wouldn't "making IDM sexy" just be turning it
into something that's not IDM?
Doesn't the music have to be sexy first? I mean, I'm trying to imagine
Funckarma or Arovane being played in a strip club and it just ain't
working. Some of it can be pretty sensual - I'd say some of the Funcken
bros' music is close to goth as it is (that sort of plaintive, sadly
nostalgic emotion is steps away from goth; sometimes reminds me of early
cure stuff) - but not really sexy.
Plaid are kinda sexy, tho.
