I'm no fan of Windows, but for the sake of a reality check, that's a
stretch. I've added several peripherals (including CD-ROM drives) and
changed hdds with no "permission" needed.
You'd have to get down to a new mainboard for that - again, not that
this is a positive thing in the least, but arguments are better made
with less hyprbole and histrionics. For someone making claims that
others are speaking without experience, you're in danger of becoming the
pot callling the kettle black.
