http://www.info-architects.net/vapourized/index.php?p=127&c=1 The ipod is a classic example of apple ... one step ahead of the techie game, but too restricted for most users who actually know anything about cmoputer music formats/electronic hardware! Did you know that the new itunes service, whilst selling you tracks at $1US each, are pretty much limited to the computer that you downloaded the track to. What the hell are people like myself supposed to do who reinstall windows and linux computers and routinely change hardware all the time! after doing some research into the matter, i discovered that every time i reinstalled my computer it would invalidate my itunes protected AAC files making it impossible to play music that i had payed for unless i contacted apple and asked them to change my digital ID key... can anyone else see hints of a world domination conspiracy here?? If you give big corporations (like apple and microsoft) control over what you can do with music you have PAYED for, its gonna backfire! It is a breach of our consumer trust for companies to feel that they need to control absolutely every part of our entertainment experience, by means of copy protection/encryption etc. Microsoft and Apple are alike in that they have the worlds most user friendly os's and that they share a common goal: to control ever person in the internet connected worlds every computer experience! The ipod, whilst being a nice enough device, is just an extention of Apples control tactics... ipods dont even play ogg files, when they have the hardware capability and all that is needed is a software/firmware patch of like 2 DLL files! So dont give in to the ipod hype... they may be stylish, but ur likely to regret it in the long run! 28.05.04 @ 18:54:48 seek --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
