When it comes down to sotware you might want to check out a free modular piece of "tracker" (don't get put off by the name, it's way more than that) software called Jeskola Buzz. It's old, it's free and kinda buggy, but give it a shot and see how it feels. I think it's great personally, and there are some machines in there (machines are synths/samplers/effects/whatever that plugin to the main application) that do some nift granular stuff, or sample & hold effects. Some of those machines are good at chopping and slicing whatever input in real time, which would be great forr IDM like effects (I think). Links: http://www.buzzmachines.com - get one of the big packs to get started http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Buzz-Buzz/ - a Buzz related yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/experimental-music-with-buzz/ - Buzz related experimental music group (does that spell IDM? :) ) Jürgen. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
