To me Schnauss is not about beautiful melodies, but about an intoxicating
sound canvas. Smooth, soothing. It really hits a certain spot very well, but
I agree it's kind of shallow and a bit *too* sweet / full. Couldn't imagine
myself listening to this all the time, but I still find myself reaching for
his discs relatively often. Worth checking out, no doubt.
M83 is pompous, straightforward kinda post-rock with massive analogue
synths. Quite beautiful but gets a bit too grandiloquent at times. Something
has to hit that yearning for bombast, though, and Dead Cities... hits it
really nicely.
Both are recommended.
