Hi Tinus. The good thing about funckarma is that they kind of do thier own thing and nobody else creates music quite like them. Unlike most artists where you can usually name 3 or 4 more similar artists without much thinking, funckarma are a different story. I can tell you however of other artists that i enjoy in the percussive & melodic side of IDM, namely MD (aka Kschzt), Brothomstates, Spark (except his new one), Proem, Sense, & the Download releases 'III' & 'Effector'. Hope this helps, Portis ----- Original Message ----- From: Member To: 'Portis' Sent: Saturday, September 11, 2004 2:54 PM Subject: RE: [idm] Funckarma/CANE Hi Portis, I am a huge fan of the Funckarma Bros (and I go to every concert in Holland they give, recently saw them as Cane). Do you by now know some similar stuff by other artists? Thanx, Tinus. -----Original Message----- From: Portis [mailto:portis@warp.nfld.net] Sent: dinsdag 28 oktober 2003 23:33 To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] Funckarma/CANE My favourite Funckarma release is probably Part 4, if you don't have that already. I don't know of any other music quite like Funckarma's.... so i can't really give comparisons or suggestions. Their "Bourbon Sounds" release is very interesting, more on the experimental-edged side, but it's very thematic. I've always loved the Chunk EP which was released a few years back (the first Funcken I heard). That's pretty tricky stuff too. Another alias except Quench that they use is Cenik, which is more on the busy bleepy sample driven tip. Do yourself a favour and try to track down some of their compilation appearances, namely on the Perspective Fragments Volume One release on U-Cover and Men With Boxes compilation on DUB. They have a couple of great contributions on those discs... I've been meaning to post and ask for recommendations for other music similar to Funckarma's Part 5 EP, which is one of my absolute favorite releases of the last couple years in any genre. Suggestions? Either other Funckarma stuff (although I have quite a lot of their proper releases, excluding several compilation tracks and remixes) or other like-minded artists. -zb > Oh yum, if you're half the Funckarma fan that I am, you should be > aware of what i stumbled across on www.funckarma.com : > > "The new Funckarma project CANE has been born.
