I remember eight years ago when Orbital's "In Sides" topped the IDM List Poll. 1996 also saw the release of such albums as Squarepusher's "Feed Me Weird Things," Aphex Twin's "Richard D. James Album," the Mike & Rich album, and Cylob's "Cylobian Sunset." Yet somehow, Orbital won out that year. Don't get me wrong; "In Sides" is still a pretty good album, and the last two tracks are pretty phenomenal stuff, but still, I always thought that the RDJ Album was the clear winner. Maybe people just didn't have enough time to realize that. There were a lot of people who were pissed off that it was only 34 minutes longs, and the US folks had to wait until 1997 to buy this on Sire if they didn't have a way to find an "import" copy. So anyway, I just wanted to say that I definitely think that Orbital's "Blue Album" is their best since "In Sides," and a pretty nice note on which to end their careers (as Orbital, anyway). I'm not saying that it will be Album of the Year for 2004 (some people already have some strong opinions on that one), nor would it probably even be in the running if this list still did that sort of thing. I'm just saying that, hey, I like it. And there's been no traffic on the list today, so I just wanted to get things going. Oh, and here are the results of that poll: http://elists.resynthesize.com/idm/1997/01/103984/ That's all, Alan np:Kid606:Who Still Kill Sound? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
