My point is that no matter what the year and no matter what the label (Warp included), 5 or 10 years out we're all gonna look back and say 'O my god, I don't believe I liked some of that stuff.' It is absolutely gauranteed and inevitable. It should be- it's the natural progression of music and musical styles. Sure, some of it will stand the test of time, like the AI comps and Tri Repetae and a bunch of others, but (as has been mentioned already in this thread), when you have a percepted bastion of a certain musical style (as Warp was to idm originally), over the years that label's output as it becomes more varied and diverse, people will see that as them becoming dilluted or not as progreessive as they used to be. It happened to all those labels in the 90s; it's happening to Warp now, and it'll happen to every simgle label in existence. It's unavoidable. And yes, I sincerely hope that in 10 years I can look back at all these tunes that I'm loving today and think 'I can't believe I used to like that stuff.' Sidenote- I can't believe that in my earlier post I forgot to mention the first two Download cds on Cleo and the Phylr albums on Invisible. Very much worth mentioning.
