Advertising pays for content the same way the ads on the radio pay for licensing fees. A free "rag" is required to cover all their costs with advertising. Or maybe they should only publish content that is free. I'm sure Bill Woodward would be glad to work for free and jettison the corporate reins that kept him from writing anything of value. Oh yeah, I forgot - he brought down a presidency within the confines of a corporation. Even worse, a Warren Buffet-owned corporation. By the way, I'd think I was cool if hummer paid me for one of their ads. And I'd have a hell of a lot more time to come up with good "content." -----Original Message----- From: folk devil [mailto:folkdevil_23@hotmail.com] Sent: Friday, June 18, 2004 3:09 PM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: [idm] Funkadvertising maybe the artists should speak up instead of letting rag PR publications that have more content in advertising space than subject matter hype them into oblivion, or think people think that they're cool being in a hummer advert for instance.
