> April's Grime event; sets from MarkOne & Plasticman (featuring Virus

maybe its just me, but these are a couple of the worst sets ive ever heard. this is yet another instance of MC's destroying a set that would otherwise be listenable. Soundmurderer (Todd Osborne) played the grime sounding stuff at movement (DEMF) this year and it was excellent. but some wack MC who has no original material and the same old "jungle massif, rewind," and in this case "TRUST ME" lyrics, all the while insisting that this is "the new sound" and banging his fist on the table just doesn't cut it for me.
without the MC's I could have enjoyed those sets, but instead they made sure I couldn't, and the set number 3, the slaughter mob, has a rewind every 5 minutes. do brits really get into this? do MC's ever do more good to someone's set than evil? and is there any real reason ever for a rewind? maybe its my stateside rage kicking in, especially since I got robbed last weekend, but if I was at that show, I would have jumped on the stage and knocked out those virus syndicated rehashed MC's or at least taken their mics away from them.
for the record, I do like some rap. but I don't consider them MC's because the DJ is part of their act, not the other way around.
please pardon my drama. I would just like to know if I'm way off the mark, and if people really enjoy that kind of stuff (bad MC's, rewinds, etc.)
