TEAM SHADETEk's new record, Burnerism, will be released June 15, 2004 on Warp Records. Upcoming live performance in ATLANTA Wednesday, June 23, 2004 @ The Drunken Unicorn TEAM SHADETEk (Warp Records) Machine Drum (Merck) w/Special Guest MCs Poly-Sci and Amdex Mic Mell (Nophi) Mr. Mips (ATL) Special DJ Set By Atlanta's Son and Prefuse73 touring partner DJ LebLase ( Eastern Developments ) All Ages Doors at 9:00 pm $5 TEAM SHADETEk (Warp Records, Tiger Beat 6, Violent Turd) A musical abstraction birthed by SOZER.SHT and ZATSONER. Picked up by Warp Records after releasing records on their own imprint and a well received WSHT Radio Mix on Violent Turd, TEAM SHADETEk continue exposing the underbelly of urban mind trips, producing music featured on a wide range of discriminating DJs playlists including those of the Optimo crew, The Bug's Razor X Sound, 4Tet, Graham Massey, DJ /Rupture, Kid606 and Mary Ann Hobbes on the BBC's Breeze Block show. The Warp Records release, Burnerism, the next level of buried melody hop, feeds their high energy live performances, all helping to build their reputation of a true up and coming crew in the electronica world. DJ Rupture describes their style as 'outernational' spanning a range of influences from the hiphop and dancehall of their upbringing in NYC, raga jungle, experimental electronica from Warp artists like Autechre and Aphex along with a strong dose of urban youth culture aesthetics including punk rock 'destroy it yourself' means of production, rave culture and the competitive battle aesthetics of graffiti and hiphop. These colliding worlds, combined with their discovery of the plasticity of digital art production at a young age lead TEAM SHADETEk to their current technological urban aesthetic. Dig into it and find out for yourself. Machine Drum (Merck) Fractured hip-hop, reassembled vocal stylings, oft compared to Prefuse73, Travis moves beyond the comparisons and stereotypes, developing his own recognizable style of slipped bits and reconfigured data. A mainstay on the Merck label, Machine Drum produces solid, high-quality brain food, and has toured Europe extensively, holding his own amongst the heavyweights of the electronica scene. On this night, Machine Drum will feature two guest MCs, Poly-Sci and Amdex. Prepare yourself for vocal hammers in a room full of crystal, reassembled and materialized. Mic Mell (Nophi Recordings) Mic Mell dives full-throttle into a sea of organized distortion, corrupted elegance and electronic hip-hop. Time shifts, melodies collide, beats collate, and a peculiar funk is somehow wrapped around each rhythm. A man of extremes, shuffling between prolific output and hysterical inertia, he creates a lively feel that runs parallel to its processed programming and groovy tweaks, twitches and tenacity. Mr. Mips (ATL) Hidden melodic gems nestled among paper beats and tin can rhythms describe one aspect of the multifaceted sound of Mr. Mips. Sonic brother of the Autechre and Aphex Twin cult, Mips' moves out and away from the safe hearth of IDM, absorbing hip-hop, jungle, and whatever feels good for the day. Riding a fine line between the esoteric and familiar, undeterred by anyone or anything, Mips' attitude is best described by Ben Arnold of Pantalones: "Mips is as Mips does." 'Nuff. DJ LebLase (Eastern Developments) Representing the ATL around the world, LebLase is the touring partner for Prefuse73 and commands his own attention with releases on Eastern Developments. Demonstrating a seemingly infinite knowledge of hip-hop, IDM and just about anything with a beat, LebLase lights it up for continuous dance floor movement. Now take a deep breath, let go, and his experienced mixes will hold you for the rest of the evening. http://www.wearechangeagent.com/shadetek http://www.warprecords.com http://www.tigerbeat6.com http://www.machinedrum.net http://www.m3rck.net http://www.micmell.com http://www.nophi.net http://www.easterndevelopments.com The Drunken Unicorn (behind MJQ) 736 Ponce De Leon Ave Atlanta, GA, USA 30306 http://www.thedrunkenunicorn.net Contact: James B.
