i think sound garden (www.cdjoint.com) is worth checking out in baltimore.
their electronic selection has gotten better over the few years i've been
shopping there. it does seem to lack consistency, but there is usually a
pretty wide variety. last time i dropped by i picked up villalobos, donato
wharton, tim hecker, fennesz. they have more beat-oriented stuff as well,
along with all the usual warp suspects. things they don't have can usually
be special ordered. plus they have used electronic, and vinyl too. the
staff i've talked to are all cool. but perhaps most importantly: they're
open til 12am thurs-sat ;)
