I use guitars in my electronic music as well as a variety of other
instruments (didjeridoos, flutes, pianos, congos, shakers, xylophones, thumb drums,
etc.). I record with a shure sm57 mic directly into my G5 mac using soundhack
when playing my acoustic. I haven't been using my electric very much lately, but
when I do I use a pedal combination of DOD grunge, Boss super phaser and
digital delay, and my crybaby wah. I use peak, protools, and reason to put
effects over the guitar samples (if needed) to add finishing touches. I really feel
using live instruments adds much more to my tracks than just using my midi
controller and computer programs alone. It also gives off a live, free-flowing
feel.
