there may be some confusion about what you mean by mixing. i think
what you need really depends on what you're trying to do. while it's
true that *ideally* your tools should be flexible, whether it's
hardware boxes or computer software, the truth is people like to work
differently, and different kinds of music are easier to do on
different platforms.
