Matthew Mercer's name began its rise with the release of his "Secrets" full
length on the late Christian Morgenstern's Cologne, Germany based FORTE
records, and the tracks were quickly caned by dj's from Chicago to Detroit
to Berlin. Now a full year after the first record's release, NEUTON plans to
finally release the Secrets II 12". The classically trained Mercer Brings
his "Anything goes" sampling approach to the bottle stage.
He will rock it...

WARMDESK - LIVE CHICAGO

With previously released material on such well regarded labels as Germany's
Background/Touch of Class, France's Bip-Hop, Static Caravan and Fallt, The
"Guero Variations" debut by WARMDESK was released by DELUXE (home to
Blechtum from Blechdom and the early endeavors of MATMOS). The project of
chicago-based producer William Selman, the sound of WARMDESK has evolved
from his earliest work of musique concrete and skewed rhythms into
stripped-down minimal techno. Still present are the dubby textures and
samples from everyday life, but now they coexist with smooth chords and
rhythmic grooves. Releasing a 12" on Andy Vaz's BACKGROUND Records' "House"
sublabel A TOUCH OF CLASS, he showed off more dancefloor-friendly sound that
quickly its way into sets by DJs like Steve Bug. Recently he released a 12"
on his own label with remixes by Stephan Mathieu and Ulrich Troyer that
received rave reviews in De-Bug and The Wire, and is now working on another
12" for A Touch
of Class.
This is William's debut performance for Meiotic, and we are indeed excited
to have him rocking it for us.

Simply put, the kid is ill. Part of the next wave of upcoming Chicago
producers, he is currently being courted by stateside labels in Chicago &
Detroit, as well as German labels out of Berlin & Cologne. We're probably
already jinxing him by mentioning this factoid, so we'll just leave it at
that. His live performance is all analog equipment.
After a previous miscue that prevented him from opening for Matthew Dear in
the spring of 2003, come check out this sneak preview performance to his
official Meiotic debut coming on March 5th at THE PRESENT TENSION, opening
for LUOMO/VLADISLAV DELAY.
