Now that we're well into '04 I think I can safely say that Merck was
my favorite label of '03. They had some outstanding releases, and
even the ones I didn't think were immediately all that great have
really grown quickly on me.
The Blamstrain, Proswell & Secede albums were all immediate loves, and
Adam Johnson & Tiki Obmar were pleasant surprises. Merck is showing a
lot of variety and growth, and I'm lovin' it. They even managed three
excellent compilations in '03! Check it:
Adam Johnson - Chigliak
Blamstrain - Ensi
Esem - Serial Human
Lackluster - Showcase
Proswell - Carrot Dossier
Secede - Bye Bye Gridlock Traffic
Tiki Obmar - High School Confidential
V/A - Dosage
V/A - Double Down
V/A - Miasmah
And now they got a new Proem coming up, more Syndrone (aka Machine
Drum) on the way, and more new artists - I can't wait!
Sorry for the gushing but I'm just having an "awe of Merck" week. You
know how every once in a while you just can't get enough of something?
