hello! a wee reminder for the Highpoint Lowlife tour starting tonite in London.. three artists - Motion(UK) Motion (real name Chris Coode) aka Recon, makes stunningly subtle works out of sensuous vestiges of melody and digital space, coupled with sparse fragments of warm tones, lo-fi creaks and bass frequencies. His new album on highpointlowlife under the guise of Recon is more rhythmic elements of techno and house defragmented and stripped to a cohesive organic whole. Previously Motion work has appeared on US 12k label, on the UK label Fat Cat, and Italian web based label Tu M'. Dalglish (aka O.S.T., U.S.) San Franciscos' Chris Douglas has become synonymous with a challenging, quixotic and singular brand of electronic expression. Having recorded under many guises for labels like Dial Records, Switch Records, avant-pariahs Phthalo, Plug Research, Emanate, Worm Interface, Diskono, Simballrecs... the list goes on. One of the original US electronica pioneers, Douglas along with early friend and colloborator Kit Clayton were the first to invite Richie Hawtin out to play the West Coast. Chris has stayed in Europe since early this year when he was brought over by Autechre to play at this years ATP. N.LN (U S.) San Francisco based Nyles Lannon is the guitarist and keyboard player for local indie shoegazers Film School, whose warm, winding melodies wrap their way around legions of layered chords and sonic blasts of guitars which simmer into slow, dreamy waves. In his solo N.LN project, Nyles uses electronics and computer manipulations to create a similar aesthetic, gorgeous evocative atmospherics combine with constantly evolving crunched and gnarly beats. Si-cut.db (UK) Douglas Benford is known mainly as SI-CUT.DB, has a new album out with Stephan Mathieu/Full Swing on Bip Hop, and a new solo one on Highpoint Lowlife; As well being a co-curater at london experimental music event lab SPRAWL, Douglas has recorded under various other pseudonyms, plus had collaborations as TENNIS (with Benge) currently, also with Rechenzentrum, Scanner, Add N To X, St Etienne, and Andrew Weatherall. Douglas has been seen & heard on European ARTE TV (with Stockhausen), UK's ITV's Mixmaster series, Resonance FM, John Peel and Radio 3's Mixing It. Recent SI-CUT.DB tracks are on labels in the US(Simballrec/12k), Nothern Ireland (Fallt), Spain (Spa.rk), germany (Background/FeinRaus), and various french labels. He has played at places all over the world including New York (Tonic), Berlin (transmediale), Australia (Frigid Club), Scotland (CCA), Vancouver (AV Lodge) and Austria (Ars Electronic) events, UK (ICA, Tate Modern as part of the Tennis duo) and in Franc (Batofar boat), various festivals), and other events & galleries.
