I disagree. I thought they were way engaged with their music, and although I tend to have an automatic visceral reaction to house, I thought their stuff was really good. In fact, a lot of the experimental stuff I saw was complete crap. At least they weren't using laptops. With few exceptions, I think the laptop aesthetic had to be the single most boring and preditable element at Mutek.
