Actually, I may not pay much heed to what mainstream media has to say
about a mainstream-unfriendly genre, but I certainly thing we can't ignore
it, either. As much as we may discredit the mainstream media's
simplifying and minimizing view of IDM, we can't deny that zillions of
other people read it...In fact, mainstream media is defined by the size of
its audience. So when you say to a new friend/stranger/potential sexual
partner: "I like IDM." and they say "Ooooh. I've heard of that." You
have some idea of what sort of misinformation they've been fed.
