accelera deck (
http://www.scarcelight.com/ ) has
released many ep's and lp's on many labels (555, Neo
Ouija, skylab, scarcelight). here's what his website
says:
Accelera Deck is Chris Jeely from Birmingham, Al.
usa. From 19??-to 1995 Chris
played and recorded in numerous rock bands, influenced
heavily by the textures
of My Bloody Valentine, and Main. It was the release
of Aphex Twin's "Selected
Ambient Works Voume II" and Seefeel's "Quique" that
inspired Chris to begin ex
perimenting with a sampler.
Chris began recordings as A c c e l e r a D e c k
sometime after October 1995,
when a fire claimed all of his music equipment.
With a little insurance money,
a four track and guitar were purchased. Fast forward
to 1 9 9 7 and Accelera Deck
records his first album "Narcotic Beats," a guitar /
drum & bass hybrid, dubbed
by many as the first drum & bliss album. In 1998
Chris recorded his second album
"Conviction & Crack," delving further into sampling
guitar feedback and amp noise
as textures for the songs. A naive hip hop influence
emerged alongside the guitar
damage. 1999 saw the release of " Echo Economy " a CDR
devoted to errors stumbled
upon by setting start, end, & loopback points of
samples all equal . Additionally,
the album "Addict" was recorded which merged drum &
bliss, raw guitar damage, &
a growing fascination with hip hop. Next, Chris
recorded "Disquieting" (2000) and
"Digital Headrest" (not released till 2001); both
albums saw a pushing of the beats
and samples to the front, and moving the guitar to the
background. In early 2 0 0 1
Chris dropped all the electronics, and recorded a
stark acoustic album with vocals.
"Shadow Land" was well received by critics but
ignored by the electronic crowd.
The album was described as "an excursion into
territory that is simply too foreign,
too raw, and too different from what they expect"
Shadow Land marked a turning point
in another way as well, the album was released on May
26th, 2 0 0 1, Chris entered a
rehab for alcoholism on May 27th.
Now after a two year hiatus Chris emerges with Fire
Maps, a blueprint for how to
destroy a 1967 Jazzmaster. Drone & Gloss ......think
My Bloody Valentine meets Mego.
April 2003 will see the very first Accelera Deck tour
and the setting up of a series
of recordings for the austrian label Skylab
Operations.
Throughout his time recording Chris has dabbled in
releasing music under a variety of
names like, September Plateau, Exhalera Deck, Audio
Wishe, and Your Favorite Horse. Many,
many limited edition singles, & ep's have been
recorded for a variety of esteemed labels
such as; Morr Music, Awkward Silence, Narrominded,
and Skylab Operations.
i am robot and proud plays playful yet introspective
electronic pop in the vein of boards of canada, casino
vs. japan, solvent, and most of the morr records
roster.
thanks- please come out if you're in the area!
