You're not paying for the "movie" at a theater. You're paying for the theater experience, part of which is seeing a projection of the digital file (though most movies are still on film) on the big screen, and producing this experience requires quite a bit of material implementation. Watching a rip of a screener at home doesn't seem different from listening to MP3s. The movie itself really "takes place" in your mind, as does the music. -----Original Message----- From: John Hager [mailto:HagerJW@Healthall.com] Sent: Wednesday, March 12, 2003 2:28 PM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: [idm] Indie Ethics yeah sure people are paying 8 bucks just to walk on the cinemas private property.... and overpay for snacks.... has nothing to do with the filcks on the screen... ok once again i am humbled by your superior reasoning skills. john --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
