After a number of consistent and concept based works, a productive urge to create a heterogeneous album, with equally varied references and tracks, has now resulted in "La Nouvelle Pauvreté". The term is borrowed from a Belgian anti-fashion movement who once countered the overladen 80s pompousness with deliberately angular, prudish creations. In the search for depth and true pathos Jelinek turns his production tools into pure means - centre stage is again taken by the actual material. Sources are no longer blurred, encoded or retouched, samples may betray their heritage, and even Jelinek's voice is allowed the part of an additional instrument. While Jelinek's previous explorative and sampling excercises were based on black music, house or dub, he now supplements these with a segment of musical history new to his compositions - classic white rock, pop and folk. Playing with the means and structures of traditional music The Exposures act as his fictitious backing band, Jan Jelinek's Alter Ego and extended self, bolstered by the new, carefully introduced rock references. artwork by inna todisco, berlin, e-mail: todisko@web.de cd: vinyl: title: 1. a1 introducing 2. a2 music to interrogate by 3. a3 facelift 4. a4 there are other worlds (they have not told you of) 5. a5 my favourite shop 6. b1 trust the words of stevie 7. b2 ifŒs, andŒs and butŒs 8. b3 davos s (trio Œround midnight) 9. b4 a waste land listen to 4 tracks on www.scape-music.de also available: JAN JELINEK AVEC THE EXPOSURES 12 inch (sc14, EFA 27114-6) -------------------------------- scape gmbh dunckerstr. 7 10437 berlin Tel: +49-30-44055389 +49-30-44054106 Fax: +49-30-44054107 e-mail: info@scape-music.de e-mail promotion: bp@scape-music.de www.scape-music.de order scape online: www.phonoclub.de --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
