I'm not sure I understand what you're saying, but I as far as I can tell your example doesn't really respond to what I said. You can own the car, but how is it evident that can you own a process? A car is material, an idea is not. Laws don't reflect some transcendent reality that has to be. Do you not see how trying to monopolize intellectual property (the very term seems kind of weird) might be in the interests of purveyors of products, cultural or otherwise? They're trying to own our minds, man! Bogus! -----Original Message----- From: c [mailto:c@scarcelight.com] Sent: Tuesday, March 11, 2003 5:27 PM To: pixilated Cc: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] Indie Ethics there is a difference between the rights to the song, and the copyright of the sound recording. so if a guy uses plastic to invent a flying car and patents it, then we can all go steal his idea, because plastic is available to everyone? how funny ! really.....?? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
