Who gets paid when a label sends a song off to a radio station?
hell, they're not even guaranteed airplay, and that *costs* them money each
time they do it. MP3 might not bring in money by itself, but it also doesn't
cost anything more to the labels (unless, of course, they're providing the
mp3's themselves, but that's a different boat o' fish). In a lot of ways,
it's completely free publicity, and indie labels, which thrive off of
providing quality music that's not easily available and no easy access into
media of any sort, should be eating it up.
No one gets paid if the people don't hear the music.
