let us know what you think. I'm going to hold off, as the last record I bought by her ("one on one," I believe) didn't really grab me. I agree with the autechre influence, which makes sense -- look at all the people on Rephlex that were buddies with RDJ that had elements of each other in the tracks. I'm currently going through a bunch of 12" EPs that I've had and haven't listened to in a long time. You know, that GAK ep really is something, isn't it? And that "virus with shoes" ep by Two Lone Swordsmen is really great, too. It reminds me sort of when IDM was about putting things together in interesting ways, instead of being about all-analog music. Which, in turn, reminds me of how funny it is when people say "this track sounds like aphex twin," when there's no violins 'n stuff, which is what made aphex different in the first place. tonight, while the girl's at dance, I'm gonna plop on that mechanical verses thing by phonem again. I recall that having some great moments, but there are bits that the girl doesn't like, so it doesn't get played all too often. I've been listening to more sample-based, real-instrument-type IDM lately, probably to welcome spring as it's been gradually getting warmer here in Baltimore. Which inevitably means I'm listening to older stuff, as most of the newer stuff is either full-on sampledelica (which, by the way, is soemtimes really good -- this LP from Caural that he sent me is fantastic for the most part) or all electronic. So if you're in an area where spring is actually getting near (or already upon you), what have you been listening to enjoy the changing weather? And to keep with the topic, keep it on things you've paid for ;) hehe! derek --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
