K - here you be : Disc rot (from what I gather) is a mfg. defect in CD pressing wherein the CD becomes "bronzed" at the edges and produces static-like noise when played. It's apparently cause by aluminum oxidation in the media and can't be rectified - only replaced. It's more common in laser discs but has happened in CDs as well. jeff http://www.brainwashed.com/c93/discog/discrot.html http://www.foetus.org/misc/rot.html http://www.hyperion-records.co.uk/ (looks like most "help" infos are about replacement) http://foetusized.org/cdrot.html http://www.mv.com/ipusers/richbreton/m/files/cd_rot.htm http://www-personal.umich.edu/~bpl/cdrot.htm At 10:19 AM 1/28/2003, thorsten Sideb0ard wrote:
