Except that the construction of electronica turns a genderless classification into a feminized role, sparring directly with "Techno" (and its masculine overtones). The last thing I want to deal with when I talk about music is genderization issues :) That, and there already is an electronica genre. It's usually the place where groups like Air and other pop-based electronic music are grouped -- you know, the ones that aren't as edgy as "techno" yet aren't as repetitive as house nor trance. You can also place "fatboy slim" and "chemical brothers" in the electronica genre, if you look at it more broadly. Regardless, it's rather moot -- the people who know what you're talking about will largely not care about the terms you use, and the people who don't won't have any idea anyway ;) If you're picky about it, why add that "a" at the end? "Electronic" Nice and broad and about as useless as most other genre names. derek -- eggytoast.com -------------- commerce soon: eggtastic.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
