Hi all,
next tuesday [nov 5th] we run a really interesting night of Live electronica
with live, realtime reactive visuals.
Our special guest from Berlin is Frank Bretschneider of mille
plateaux/raster-noton/12k.
His music is full of echoes, off kilter beats and science fiction sounds. He
also projects real-time visuals and when the two combine it's pretty
amazing.
If you want to see/hear a video example, go here :
http://www.mille-plateaux.net/vdo/index.html
Our recommendation is 'vertical invader' by bretschneider/deupree.
It's in the space upstairs at the project, it's a large, modern theatre
space, the soundsystem is LOUD and very clear and the seats are very
comfortable. Unlike at the Carsten Nicolai show we did in March, people will
be free to move in and out of the space during performance and drinks are
allowed inside the main room.
Not only that, Donnacha Costello plays live, Hard sleeper plays live and
David Donohoe will also be dj-ing in the bar.
Admission, if you're a student/unemployed is only 7euro and it's only 9 if
you're not.
For 3 live acts, 1 DJ, Impressive projections in a comfortable environment
with excellent sound, we think that's pretty good value!
The show runs from 19.30 to midnight so you'll still make it to work/college
the next day :-)
Hope you can all make it!
Full details below, many thanks,
minimise.

The basic sounds are created from a computer-aided virtual modular
synthesizer system (I use it also on stage)...
I prefer to use clean sine waves and white noise, both simple and clear... I
like precise, short, impulsive sounds... in general the more artificial
sounds... I like it if the music sounds if it would come from outer space...
I use echoes and delays because it makes the music more floating... my goal
is to create some kind of economic, floating, cool pop-music... I´m very
close to graphic design, I studied graphic design and painting and worked
for a long time as a graphics designer.. I like it to have a visual control
over my music (as wellas I like to see the LED´s of my synth flashing)... I
guess this visual aspect is a big influence to my music.
Donnacha Costello
Donnacha has been making noise since he started playing piano and toy
keyboards in 1981. Heavily involved in Dublin's electronic music scene for
the past six years, he now records for Germany's esteemed 'Mille Plateaux'
label and other international labels.
He currently divides his audio work between emotional electronic/guitar
music and computer based audio experimentalism. He is also composing for
film and lecturing at university.
Donnacha has recently started exhibiting as a visual/sound artist and in
January of this year curated a one week show of installation work and
performances by members of minimise at Cork's prestigious Triskel Arts
Centre.
Hard Sleeper
Hard sleeper is the musical alias of Dublin based designer/musician Peter
Maybury. In 2000, under this alias, Peter h released a book & cd through
renowned Californian design magazine and publisher 'Emigre'.
Since then he has also contributed to compilations on the Sub Rosa label and
has been working on new material which should surface some time in 2003.
Peter has also been involved in many other art, photographic and publishing
projects.
David Donohoe
David records for renowned Irish electronic label D1 Recordings and also for
minimise. His debut album on D1 was hailed by The Irish Times as 'the
development that Dublin's music scene has been waiting for'.
His second album, 'Please Dissolve In This' is scheduled for release in
2003. David is currently working on a number of other music projects,
including releases for Cologne's Trapez and Traum labels and an ongoing
collaboration with Donnacha Costello for the mille plateaux label.
David is also a freelance graphic designer working on diverse projects
including album covers, book and web projects
