It is first and foremost an Underworld record. There are elements I like
and some I dislike. It must be understood that UW is one of those bands
which (despite the brilliance of Dubno and any good things about the
others) have become easy and popular targets of the IDM-l populace. My own
preference runs towards the 1st two UW mkII records...this one reveals
directions I really don't care for and some which are good (to my ears).
What I dislike are the UK progressive hints (thankfully, this does not
dominate the record entirely). What I meant by the first remark above is
that I don't agree with some who feel the band is 'cashing in' on trends;
there's nothing there which isn't a part of what has been there for the
past couple of records. I hated "Bruce Lee" from Beaucoup Fish and there
were a few others I'd toss readily. It isn't as crappy as some people will
rush to claim, but it's no Dubno or STITI.
