News Update: After earning a reputation for blowing out American sound systems during his September tour opening for Telefon Tel Aviv, T.Raumschmiere's "Anti" full-length has finally arrived. The release marks Marco Haas' (aka T.Raumschmiere) official US and Hefty debut. Based in Berlin, Haas has released music on Cologne¹s well-respected Kompakt label, as well as Sender and his own critically acclaimed label, Shitkatapult, (which he co-founded). He was also featured on Hefty's "Immediate Action" 2xCD and Slicker's "FrustRache" EP. https://www.heftyrecords.com/shopping/index.asp?index=72 Telefon Tel Aviv is back home from touring and are currently hunkered down in their Chicago studio, where they've begun work on their highly anticipated 2003 full-length release for Hefty. Expect to see their 12"/CD EP contribution to the Immediate Action series (Red) before year's end. In keeping with the "immediate" theme, no release date has been set. As soon as we have it, you'll have it. It features "Sound in a Dark Room", (a vocal track debuted during the recent tour), two remixes from "Fahrenheit Fair Enough" by Slicker and Prefuse 73, and an unreleased track pulled from the original demo sent to Hefty. The art for the EP was illustrated by Broken Wrist Project member, Kevin Christy, and laid out by Graphic Havoc. A previews of the artwork can be found in the news section of the Hefty site. Dan Boadi's "Money is the Root of Evil" 12"/CD EP from Aestuarium Recordings is now available. Boadi's music drips with sweat, swinging with a tight, static Afro-Beat/disco/funk-fused propulsion. With four decades of recording, writing, and performing behind him, Dan Boadi has become a fixture in contemporary world music. He first rose to prominence in the mid-70Œs, topping the national charts of his native Ghana with an LP titled, Abrabo, which, according to the liner notes, "sold like apples". Riding this regional success, Boadi decided, with a little coaxing from his entrepreneurial friend Robert Minta, to try his luck in the United States. In 1978, he and Minta released "Money is the Root of Evil" in a limited run of 500 copies. Finally reissued, it truly deserves to be heard! https://www.heftyrecords.com/shopping/index.asp?index=71 Thanks to all those who came out to see Telefon Tel Aviv, T.Raumschmiere, and Dabrye (Eastern Developments) during their recent tour. It was a huge success!
