The first time is foggy because I was but a wee raver and my head was clouded with extacy and architecture school...the earliest memorable moment though was seeing and hearing Autechre live in 1994, in NYC, playing music from Amber. It was at Club Vinyl, where Blech was later held. The Vinyl sound system was so amazing, and Amber is an articulate album; it defines and describes spatiality in several different relationships. It's an unparalleled release. [That was back in the day when people still danced, before it was outlawed in NYC.] -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= She.Ra -----Original Message----- From: jeremy.axon [mailto:jeremy@ums.ca] Sent: Tuesday, September 17, 2002 10:56 AM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: [idm] Your first time... i was in high school in 94 and a coil fan, having had them introduced to me by a friend's brother, and the only record store in town that had any coil had it on the wall behind the cash register. also on the wall were things like aphex twin, FSOL, the orb, orbital, zoviet:france, einsturzende neubauten, wagon christ, autechre... lots of weird and good music which i soon started buying. also, i heard a lot of tapes of toronto djs through the aforementioned friend, and there used to be a lot of what's now lumped together as idm being spun... the Orb's Blue Room on a hardcore tape, Ventolin on some breaks tape... yeah... and then i saw The Black Dog & PWOG and I became addicted to this stuff... -- JA --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
