Having been a long-time fan of MBM (11+ years) i always feel the need to reply to MBM content.. so here goes.. Donna Summer wrote: :: I heard an album reciently with an altered speak :: and spell on teh cover, it was considerably better :: and there was a breakbeat track about 1/2 way :: through that was really impressive You're talking about the (March 2002) 'Variaciones Espectrales' on Instinct Records. In this release you can definitely see Jack moving more into the abstract electronic field while still retaining the classic MBM feeling. I think the track you're referring to may be "No Secrets No Surprises" --which could be a compliment to "No Purpose No Design" featured on Subliminal Sandwich.. --who knows? ;D Donna Summer wrote: :: His electro-acoutsic/tape music album was also good- :: but was an obvious homage to the originators of the :: movement rather than an origional statement. Then IDM Poll wrote: :: Whats the name of this? The name of the "album" in question is the 'Tape Music' 10" release on TinoCorp's "Science & Education" sub-label called Flexidisc. In this series you can also find the 'Sounds of the 20th Century' material highlighting the abstract experimentations in field-recordings and other oddities that Jack and the clan have been up to. For more info on this 10" release, http://www.tinocorp.com/tapemusic.html is where to go.. Kent Williams wrote: (Re: RUOK? Full Length).. :: Every track is fractally detailed with hundreds of little bits :: of sound design that appear only once... The production :: values on it are amazing, as well. The bass is deep and wide. :: The modular synth sounds are better recorded and mixed :: than I've ever heard before.. I agree with Kent 100% regarding the new full length on Run Recordings/Skor Rec.. I also have to add that for those of you who are expecting to hear the "typical" MBM beats and bass will be in for a surprise. There are a few top-notch experimentally pounding tracks on 'RUOK?' such as "Yuri" & "No Echo In Space" that will have your speakers lifting into the sky. I full feature/review of this album will appear at Igloo Magazine next week.. (www.igloomag.com). The MBM Website is currently streaming "Supersoul", another track from the full-length. Check it out by heading over to www.brainwashed.com/mbm. If you want to hear a clean & clear version of this track in high(er) quality streaming, tune in to Digital::Nimbus (Radio) tonight at midnight-3am PST.. (www.digitalnimbus.com). :D That's it for now, and before i forget, it would probably be in your interest to check out the MBM Historical Archive hosted by the lovely Freakquency Modulator.. www.digitalchemist.com/mbm. Here you'll see MBM's history spanning 15 years with an abundance of photo's, information and other important details!
