Hi, I just got back from Pukkelpop, a local alternative festival featuring rock and electronic music. Quick report: the "Aphex Twin vs. Luke Vibert DJ Soundclash" was not bad, lots of old-school electro and a bit of acid and techno as well; Speedy J was too much "loudboxer"-like and not enough "public energy no. 1"-ish; Röyksopp wasn't great at all, they even brought one guy to play air guitar most of the time. I missed would-be lovely things as Akufen, Lali Puna, and The Notwist, damnation. Anyway, being a bit disappointed in the alternative electronic (idm, if you must) offerings of the festival, I vowed (ahem) to go to the UK edition of "All Tomorrow's Parties" next year. But what's it like? http://www.wayahead.com/atp/ I really can't afford to spend £460 on this thing (if it's not 100% certified world-rocking): +-----------------------------------------------------+ | Ticket type Face value w/ Booking Fee Postage | | CHALET X 4 £440.00 £460.00 £4.70 | +-----------------------------------------------------+ Assuming I can get three other people to come along, that would still be £115 per person. That's €180, or US$175! > Tickets for the event cost 110 pounds and include entry to > the festival that starts Friday 4 April at Noon until Monday > 7 April at 10am. The Ticket also includes three nights > accommodation in a private chalet that comes with private > bedding, private bathroom with WC and shower, Kitchen with > cooking facilities, fridge etc and a lounge with a colour TV. * Seeing how it is impossible to *not* rent a room, what are your experiences with them? Are they worth their money? * What's the ambience like? Is everyone there for Plain Old Fun? * How's the weather in general? Soaking in sun or rather rainy? Thanks for wading through this post. That, and thanks for any help, too. -- Jan!
