yes, transform is great, too. i love all the stuff by alva noto. and i love his label raster noton. i have 9 out of the 12 20 to 2000 releases and they are great as well. especially coil's and ilpo vaisanen's.

this, imo, is quite true. subotnick really excels on the buchla synth, with his early compositions. some of the later ones (including gestures) do have some interesting aspects sometimes, but i do not consider them great music. i have yet to check out more recent stuff. i listened to "the key to songs" once, and did not really like it. i rarely listen to gestures. usually i just listen to one of the other two pieces, with "a sky.." being my absolute favourite. it has amazing rythmic structures, and, imo, the same qualities as his earlier work. great sounds from the buchla, and a great vibraphone part in it (it seems, the vibraphone was recorded, processed and then used in the composition aplying tape-cut techniques (but this is just "some" information, and might be untrue. i really have to obtain the dvd version, though... (and the player, and the 5.1. set to go with it....;) i should add, that i got heavily into subotnick, after interviewing richard devine, who told me that he "tries to compose according to the same principles and aesthetics as morton subotnick, but with beats, where he uses melody"
