Here's 3 poops (procrastinating at work) ...
Mum - Finally We Are No One
This album is just really sweet sounding all the way around. So sweet I
wonder if it even qualifies as IDM or being experimental, because it's
just pretty and melodic and quaint. I guess because they use wierd
sounds like a zippo ligher opening and closing, and other wierd found
sounds that it does qualify though. Hell being from Iceland probably
automatically qualifies this due to the "Bjork Factor". Piano, great
vocals and strings and stuff. All around awesome album.
American Gigolo (the DJ Gigolo Comp)
I know I am a lamo for even mentioning it but that's why I love this CD
so much. It's super trashy and has some great electro "standards" and
super indulgent (but good and functional) mixing and makes me feel extra
evil listening to this while driving down the 280 at 90mph. I feel
cooler having a song that just says "Dance like a machine" over and over
all euro sounding. I turn it way up and try to imagine I am that guy who
tells Homer and Bart: "Funboys - go get a room!" after retrieving his
stolen painting in that Fightin' Hellfishes episode of the Simpsons.
Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientele
I am putting this in here because I have been listening to this album
constantly in my car (even though it's a couple years old.) If you have
access to it just listen to the RZA on the first track. This album has
some really incredibly wierd production and completely amazing lyrics.
Yeah it's pretty typical Wu-Tang posturing / storytelling stuff but I
think Ghostface has a really wierd way with words and he's candid to the
point of being really, really bizarre and funny at the same time. I wish
the RZA would just experiment more and more because he has this great
experimental spirit in a lot of his stuff but the newer Wu Tang stuff
isn't as rough/raw.
