Alec Empire vs. Merzbow, CMJ 1998, at CBGB's upstairs. That's NYC for you people with no history. MB brought his table full of pedals and the noise-itar thing along with the opera singer. AE stood in back with silver facepaint and typical grim expression and chopped up records, most of which I think were from 'The Destroyer'. So MB sheer noise terror with AE Amen slashing and occasional political messages. I've heard tell DHR is planning to release the recording of this as an album sometime soon. That'll probably be the last DHR recording I ever buy..
