I heard my first Joy Division song a couple of years ago on a mixtape. This
was shortly before I started getting into IDM, and actually a little bit
after I even started getting into rock music of ANY kind. I am 21. I agree
with your statement about context...it's probably the same reason why I
can't get into the Jesus and Mary Chain much either. A lot of bands that
peaked during the late-70s/early-80s just don't do it for me, despite their
"legendary" status...
